Aleksei's lake house with a beautiful view is a cabin that first caught my eye in the early spring and mostly due to the beautiful location right in the middle of the forest and next to a wild forest lake. The perfect spot to get away from the daily routine and recharge in some peace and quiet we all need from time to time.
This location includes two houses - the main house and the sauna house. You will be able to catch the scenic view to the dark forest lake from both of the houses. We both agreed that there was something very soothing and nostalgic about the lake.
Aleksei's lake house has a rather cool background story - the owner of the house is actually a very talented painter and had visited the very same spot years ago for painting. At the time the spot was completely wild and unhabited. Years went by and at one point he started looking into buying a cabin for the family. That's when he came across this lake house located on the very same spot he had been painting!
It's one of the coolest background stories we have heard so far and you can see in Airbnb that the owner used the sauna house as a personal atelier a while back. Also, you can visit Aleksei Shatunov's exhibition at the Tauno Kangro gallery in the Old Town of Tallinn , but we will show more of that below.
On the first floor of Aleksei's lake house you will be able to find a dining table, a small lounge area with a couch and a TV as well as a small kitchen and a shower room.
The second floor is accessable by the stairs. There's a small room with an office desk, a swing and a couch.
Next to it is the bedroom with a double bed and a window with a view that looks like a painting. So yes, this lake house is also a good place for working remotely.
During our stay it was rougly 30 degrees outside, yet it remained really nice and cool inside the house. The beautiful chimney in the middle of the house is perfect for cooler days. Just get the fire started, make some tea and get cozy with a book.
Next to the lake house there is a sauna house that also has a unique chimney, a sauna and a proper shower room.
Aleksei's lake house is the perfect solution for up to four people - just invite your closest friends and enjoy the beautiful nature, have a sauna and a barbeque! The closest grocery stores are only 15 minute drive away - in Kehra.
There are also next door neighbours that are also there to enjoy the beautiful location and peace, so this cabin is not meant for parties ;)
During our stay we would set the chairs in different locations around the house - mostly either on the terrace or right next to the lake to just enjoy the view and read our books.
By the way, there is also a boat right by the lake, so you can also go cruising on the lake. Our recommendation would be to do it either early in the morning or later in the evening! 
As we mentioned earlier the owner of this lake house is Aleksei Shatunov and after hearing his story we also decided to pay a visit to his current exhibition in the Old Town of Tallinn. The exhibition is held in Tauno Kangro's gallery, Uus 20.
Neither of us had been there before and it was such a positive surprise - such a beautiful and spacious gallery right in the heart of Tallinn. The combination of the works of two talented men worked really well in such a space.
So next time you have some spare time in Tallinn, get a cup of coffee and go explore the gallery yourself. Visiting galleries is one of our favourite pastimes when we can't make any bigger plans. It also makes for a perfect idea for a date night ;)
Aleksei lake house is a holiday house that is perfect for two couples having a small getaway together. The location is beautiful all year around - just imagine all this greenery turn yellow in October or white in December! Why not start making plans already?
